Generally, you should choose to wear protective footwear to avoid the following types of injuries to the feet:

  • Crushing injuries to the feet
  • Sole punctures
  • Penetration through uppers
  • Chemical spills
  • Contact with heat or molten metals
  • Degloving (epidermis pulled away from the feet)

At Hersey’s Safety, our steel cap work boots and safety work boots offer different types of protection, depending on the grade of the toe caps, and are available in lace up, pull-on and zipper.

Type 1 – Grade 1 toe cap

Recommended for building and construction, sawmills, mining and quarrying, agriculture, waterfront, heavy engineering, fire fighting, freezer works, transport in the industries listed, heavy woodwork, meatworks.

Type 2 – Grade 2 toe cap

Best for light engineering, transport, storage, light woodworking (eg cabinet making).

Type 3 – Grade 3 toe cap

Work boots suitable for light-duty factory work, delivery work, process work, field work when not handling heavy material.

Type 4 – Grade 1 toe cap

Same qualities as Type 1, but these boots are waterproof.

We also strongly recommend that your workwear boots should meet the performance requirements of Australian Standards AS/NZS 2210.1:1994 Occupational Protective Footwear when you are wearing them in Australian workplaces.
